Position Description

We are seeking to hire a Public Relations Specialist to build and maintain a favorable public image for Yee Ha’ólníi Doo and raise awareness for our organization’s mission, programs, fundraising activities, services, and brand. The Public Relations Specialist will be responsible for planning and executing media events, media activities, and public image campaigns; fostering and maintaining press and media relationships; cultivating ongoing and special events coverage; tracking results of PR efforts; providing spokesperson training; and creating communication materials (e.g., press releases, social media content, infographics) and public position statements. May serve as a spokesperson for the organization with the media. The Public Relations Specialist works across a host of disciplines and platforms, including email, newsletter, social media, blogs, websites, and assists with copywriting, copy editing and management of internal communications systems.


To be successful in this role, you will need an understanding of consumer marketing. You will also need excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate has strong awareness, political analysis, and articulation of Indigenous issues.

Location: Mobile on the Navajo and Hopi Reservation (Arizona, New Mexico and Utah)


Education, Skills and Experience

● Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations and 2-5 years of professional experience in any of the following fields: Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or Business.

● Experience working in a non-profit or tribal setting, preferably with communications.

● Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

● Experience developing infographic content and visuals.

● Experience developing gifs.

● Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a range of groups, including campaigns, consultants and community members/partners.

● Excellent planning and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and provide administrative/programmatic support to Yee Ha’ólníi Doo staff.

● Experience working with Gmail Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Drive), database development experience a plus!

● Strong experience drafting and publishing press releases.

● Strong experience with social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).

● Strong political analysis of Indigenous issues from both lived and professional experience.

● Strong ability and desire to work in a team environment which may include remote/virtual work.

● Strong motivation and ability to take initiative.

● Website design and maintenance skills are a bonus.

Position Description



Part Time Energy Auditor


Job Purpose: This is a part-time position to review and evaluate recipients' utility bills and determine energy usage and problem areas with an on-site walk-through of homes in the Navajo Nation.


Job Duties:

  • Collect and analyze data pertaining to energy consumption, such as utility bills, energy usage logs, and equipment specifications.
  • Utilize specialized tools and equipment, including infrared cameras, data loggers, and energy meters, to measure and evaluate energy performance.
  • Work closely with the Housing Rehabilitation Program Coordinator to ensure effective energy auditing and conservation measures.
  • Conduct on-site energy audits to identify areas of energy inefficiencies and recommend appropriate energy-saving solutions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and present findings to stakeholders, including management and clients, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies related to energy auditing and conservation.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and implement energy efficiency programs and initiatives.
  • Assist in training and educating staff and residents on energy conservation practices and the efficient use of energy resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of energy consumption data and audit reports.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations while conducting energy audits and operating specialized equipment.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in energy auditing or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting energy consumption data.
  • Familiarity with using specialized tools and equipment, such as infrared cameras, data loggers, and energy meters.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify energy-saving opportunities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and analysis.
  • Effective communication skills to present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of initiative and self-motivation.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of energy conservation practices and sustainable technologies is advantageous.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to energy auditing.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to different locations within the Navajo Reservation.

Supervisor: Report to Housing Rehabilitation Coordinator

Location: Navajo Reservation-Mobile Work Site

Position:  Part time. 20 hours per week, $15 per hour. Duration of employment is dependent upon available funding.

Yee Ha’ólníi Doo Seeks Native American Cultural Branding & Graphic Design Specialist (Independent Contractor)

About Us:

Yee Ha’ólníi Doo seeks a talented and culturally sensitive Native American graphic design professional to create a powerful brand identity authentically reflecting our mission, values, and connection to Native American cultures.

Project: Develop a cohesive brand identity including logo, comprehensive brand guidelines, and initial website design concepts.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with leadership to understand our mission and target audience.
  • Conduct culturally sensitive research to identify relevant Indigenous symbolism.
  • Present initial design concepts demonstrating cultural understanding.
  • Design multiple logo options, refine based on feedback, and deliver final files with usage guidelines.
  • Develop comprehensive brand guidelines (logo, color palette, typography, imagery, brand voice, cultural significance).
  • Design a responsive website concept reflecting the new brand identity and culturally appropriate design.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in logo, brand, and website design.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing culturally sensitive Native American design work.
  • Deep understanding and respect for Native American cultures and aesthetics.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.

  • Must provide own equipment and software.

Independent Contractor Role:

This is an independent contractor position. Contractor responsible for own taxes and providing a W-9. A formal agreement will govern the project.
